Chapter 10: L'heure du dîner

At one point, I had asked Liam what the point in thinking up new executions was.

He told me that if he used the same methods repeatedly, it would get stale, and "no fun", as he put it. It was always, according to him, fun to think up new ways to exact revenge.

His idea of fun, eventually, included a rather odd creature set up in the basement. Liam told me that this...hybrid enjoyed eating two things: fish...and people.

Already, he had someone in mind for that animal's great feast.

Miss Rhoen was quite understandably confused. She indeed realized that Liam had locked her up, simply because of her snide remark towards him.

Liam dodged the statement, of course. He instead stated that his pet behind her was feeling rather ill. He was aware that she was renowned for her healing remedies, hence why he chose her.

When Miss Rhoen claimed that she had nothing she needed, Liam said that once she found out the problem, he'd let her leave to get her things and return.

It doesn't take a genius to know that was not to happen. That creature was apparently not ill, merely starving.

But that is not to say that it was not completely mindless. It was also rather playful.

It appeared to take a liking to Miss Rhoen, though I cannot say its affection was completely returned.

Liam pointed out that it appeared to like her. She gave out a suggestion that it was likely...amorous.

She also claimed she could not be an ideal mate for that beast. Liam stated that it didn't matter.

He told her, at least pretend you like him back. Perhaps that is what the creature wishes. Clearly, she saw no other alternative, so she had to do what she was told.

But that animal appeared to realize what was happening. Miss Rhoen was attempting to embrace it, but it refused.

It did not wish to play with its food, nor vice versa. It played along briefly, before finally, it was through with the little charade.

She was consumed in what seemed to be the blink of an eye.

Miss Rhoen hadn't even gotten the chance to scream when she was bitten down upon. That animal spit up her bones for days, and then her clothes.

Liam was laughing like a madman, and I felt as if his sanity was degenerating faster than I initially believed.

Two of his victims, though rude to him, seemed to have been given retribution of a disproportionate kind.

Catarina, well, she was a cruel, controlling tyrant, but Miss Moore and Miss Rhoen...I suppose their comments were nasty enough to him. Perhaps not death worthy, but this was Liam.

He had his own way of revenge, and I simply watched on and never interfered. It was out of loyalty, I suppose.

But my loyalty to him was surely strained, after the next victim.

(End of Chapter 10.)
